VCI 11200 is an asynchronous communications interface that providesdirect access to a variety of specialized asynchronous devices forworkstation systems using a VMEbus or SBus-to-VME adapter.The Asynchronous Wire Services protocol supports the American NewspaperPublishers Association (ANPA) wire service guidelines for 5-, 6-, 7-, and8-bit communications. In addition, it works with standard governmentmessage formats, including DOI 103, JANAP 128, and ACP 127.Simpact's Asynchronous Wire Services protocol executes on the SimpactIntelligent Communications Processor (ICP 6/9), which is a 68020-based, frontend processor (FEP) with up to 16 serial communicationslines.
